the view from the inside....

Okay - I'm a liar. I am not a full blown Nevada resident. I have chosen to keep my car registered in California until I have no other alternative because car insurance costs double what it costs in California. I guess it must have something to do with the large number of drunk drivers in Reno. And, I've noticed that it is not safe to be a pedestrian around here. Last week alone, a guy on a bike got hit by a sober woman and she dragged him 100 feet under her car. He died. The next day, another guy, freshly out of the hospital after being treated for minor injuries after rolling his SUV, hit a couple that was walking together and killed the wife. I'm so glad I live just out on the very edge of town where people seem to be a little more sensible...due to the fact that we pay more to live there. Yowsa.

In other news, let's discuss the weather. I finally thought that it was normal. It was all hot and dry again and it was giving everyone bloody noses and then *boom* thunderstorms break out on Wednesday and it's been raining ever since. Not to mention that it's cold. It says it's 80, but I don't believe it for a second....cuz I wouldn't be wearing a sweater if it was 80. Oy.

More exciting stuff: I got a new job! I am going to be an Administrative Assistant II at the airport authority in the accounting department. I will be working under the director. I hope that I get flight discounts.....but I haven't had the balls to ask yet. Oh well, every now and then I guess I have to actually act like a girl.

People like this are the reason that I so strongly support the death penalty.

Today is a super day....but this article just kind of made me want to puke on myself....evil bitch.

I feel as though my life has taken the most amazing turn recently - kind of like the light finally went on.

It's weird....Jeff and I have been so tense and icky since we got to Reno. I mean, we tried to make the best of it but, let's be honest - how much fun is it to live in a town where you don't know anyone except for the people that you live with - especially when the other adult you live with is working nights and you are working days....so your only communication (except via long distance phone service) is with a 3 year old. It kind of bites...and it can wear on you. However, suddenly, it's not so bad.

Last week, I guess I got a big fat reality check. Jeff and I had a not so friendly fight on Tuesday which resulted in some serious bitterness. Oh well - I went to work, he went back to sleep....when I got home, he was at work....whatever. I wake up around 2:30 and realize that he is not there. I figure he must have stopped of at Sparky's - a bar/video arcade down the street. I call, and his favorite bartender, Rich, answers the phone and says that Jeff hasn't come by. Now I'm worried. I paced around for hours trying to figure out if something bad had happened or if he was just so angry at me that he was staying in a hotel room or his car or something. I tried to go back to sleep, but it was hopeless....so I just layed in bed and thought for a long long time. It dawned on me - there are all these little things in our relationship that mean so much that we ignore....like how nice it is that he comes home after work and climbs into bed and kisses me on the forehead while I'm sleeping. I had never appreciated it so much until the night he didn't come home.

As it turns out, he was in the hospital. He had hurt his ankle at work and got shuffled between 4 hospitals before one would take the workman's comp insurance and treat him....and then he had to go into x-ray, wait for a doctor, blah blah blah.....and when the phone finally rang, it was 7:15. As bad as I feel saying it, I was so glad that he was in the hospital. :)

From that night forward, things just keep getting better. I suddenly understand why he does a lot of the things that he does and how I should react to them....as opposed to how I do. I suddenly realize that all of our time together is quality time together....not just time set aside as "quality time". I remembered why I'm with him and why I fell in love with him and why I don't ever want to be without him.

I don't know if I'm turning into my mother or Andrea.....but I've got to admit that it freaks me out.

I have definitely gone soft in my old age. :^) And I think I like it.

I feel like a freakin' genius!! Who knew that I could screw around with this all by myself until I figured out that the tags for the archive had completely changed. Yay!!

It appears that....until this week, neither I nor my two good blogging friends had updated since July 8th. Makes you wonder what happened that day in the cosmic universe that made us so uninclined to blog. Hmmm....

Anyways, life on planet Reno is interesting.....still haven't met anybody but have managed to reconnect with some old souls at friendster.com. It's this interesting little web community that allows you to network within your group of friends. You know - so these people that you meet aren't total strangers.....they are your friend's friends. And, assuming that your friends have reasonably good taste in people, you can almost be sure that the person you are meeting is not a rapist, serial killer, or other type of dangerous psycho. I say dangerous because, let's be honest, we all have friends who are a little bit psycho......but not in seriously scary ways. :)

Anyways, just thought that I would add something on here because I feel like this site is becoming old and outdated and not worth reading anymore......heck, I don't even bother to come to it all that much anymore. Oh well - I guess that's just how it goes sometimes.

p.s. If anyone knows how to make my archives come back - please help me. First they freaked out and wouldn't publish at all, then they just disappeared and I can't get them to come back. When I try to republish the entire site, it says access denied - which it has for 7 months now - and I'm the only person with access to my site. I am so confused.
